January 2010 NCSA Newsletter

N.C.S.A. Membership Meeting is scheduled for Sunday, January 10th at 2:00 PM. This meeting will usher in the successful candidates for 2010. Officers, Mike Wojtowicz (President), Mike Bartlett (Vice President), Lori McLane (Secretary) and Russ Cappellino (Treasurer) The Directors are George Durkin, Mike Goldpenny, Ron Duguay and Phil Bednarz. In addition, the Officers, the remaining Directors and Membership would like to congratulate and thank Christopher Donahue and Steve Taravella for there commitment as Directors and their participation to improve the status of the Association. We thank Elmer Goldpenny and Bob Broeker for their unconditional devoted years of service and to those who will devote there time and efforts to continue to make NCSA a great organization. Our next Directors meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 7th, at 7:00 PM. Dates are also posted online at www.ncsaonline.org

    N.C.S.A. Hunter Education Class will begin its first Ed Class with registration and introduction at 6:30 PM on Wednesday February 3rd 2010. With classes continuing at 6:30 PM each Wed on the 10th, 17th, and the 24th. NYS requires that all students attend all four classes before anyone can purchase their first hunting license. There is no charge for this program, and it is open to anyone 11 years of age or older. We will be able to accept the first 25 people who register on February 3rd 2010. Charles Collins Shooters Clinic begins Monday January 18th 2010 at 7:00 pm, and will continue January 25th, February 1st, 8th,15th, and 22nd, from novice to advanced level instructions for .22 caliber rifle or any handgun caliber and ammunition that is allowed to be used on our indoor range. Charles Collins Hand Loading Clinic will be held on Monday March 8th 2010 at 7:00 PM. Learn to reload metallic cartridges to improve accuracy and overcome the ever increasing cost of ammunition associated with the shooting sports, from basic to advanced level. N.C.S.A. Sponsored Youth Camp For over 62 years, The New York DEC has provided a summer camp program in conservation education for young New Yorkers at Camp Rushford, which serves children who are 12 to 14 years of age. At the camp, youths become immersed in conservation education, participating in fun activities and games that teach the wise use of our natural resources. New for 2010, Camp Rushford will hold a 15 to 17 year old session during week 6, Students can choose 1 week from the months of July & August. Hunter Education courses are also offered at Camp. Applications must be postmarked and submitted no earlier than February 6th 2010, to secure attendance or for more info call Carl at 791-4109, and start processing your 2010 application. Remember, each child is NCSA sponsored.

Indoor Range Target Return System Indoor Range users, please contact Christopher if and when a problem arises with the target return system. Using the contact information that is posted in the Indoor Range, you can leave a message with a description allowing him to address the issue in a timelier manor.

900 Pistol Match The 900 Match has moved indoors to Saturday mornings with signup at 9:30 AM and the match starting at 10:00 AM. There is a $4.00 fee for the Match which includes a weekly cash prize drawing, and a buffet at season’s end, plus an optional $1.00 50/50 split drawing. A casual match consisting of: Two slow fire targets, one National Match (slow, timed, and rapid) two timed fire targets and two rapid fire targets. 90 rounds indoors with a .22 caliber semi automatic pistol, when we go outdoors you can use a caliber of your choice.

Sporter Rifle Shooters Match on Thursday, signup at 6:30 PM, on the line at 7:00 PM. The League will continue for 28 weeks, thru March 4th 2010. For more information call John at 735-7517

N.C.S.A. Bullseye Pistol leagues Niagara Frontier and Suburban match dates are posted in our newsletter, online at www.ncsaonline.org and on the bulletin board in the clubhouse.

Rifle Schedules will be posted subject to conformation in 2010, and will be online at www.ncsaonline.org.

Junior Rifle Training Program NCSA is providing a Junior Rifle Training Program each Saturday afternoon at 12:00 PM. This program, with certified instructors is intended to: 1) Teach youths the vital importance of FIREARM SAFETY. 2) Provide the hands on training necessary to build confidence and develop their marksmanship skills. NCSA provides pneumatic air guns for children ages 6-12. Though junior students’ ages 12-20 may bring there own .22 caliber rifles, but have the option of using a .22 caliber rifle supplied by NCSA. If you know a child or junior that would to like to participate in the Rifle Training Program, have them join us at 12:00 PM. on any Saturday afternoon.

NCSA Shirts and Hats We have Niagara County Sportsmen's shirts and hats with the Club Logo on them and are available for purchase at the Club on both membership and directors meeting dates, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and Sunday mornings. See George Durkin to purchase your shirts and or hats. Polo shirts are priced at $10.00 each, T-Shirts are $7.00 each. For more information contact George at 298-5923  

NRA Membership/Renewal Join the N.R.A. or renew an N.R.A. membership, your one year N.R.A. dues or renewal fee of $35.00 is reduced to $25.00, you save $10.00. In return, N.C.S.A. receives a commission of $10.00 for new NRA members and $5.00 for any NRA renewal. There is  a “print it yourself” link on our home page at (www.ncsaonline.org) after printing and completing the form you can mail it in yourself to the address on the form, You can also secure both a form and an envelope that are available on the bulletin board at NCSA, and likewise mail it in yourself. N.C.S.A. Membership Renewals. Dues were due June 1st.  For your convenience we had included a self addressed envelope with a renewal form in our April Newsletter mailing to renew your Membership. We again ask that you please return the renewal with proper payment to the address indicated on the form. Or, you can deposit it the collection box next to the sign in sheet (No cash please). A printable member renewal form is available on our website, www.ncsaonline.org, or you can obtain a renewal form left near the collection box at the club. If you are unable to acquire a form, mail your dues (Check or MO) to: Niagara County Sportsmen’s Assoc. P.O. Box 194, North Tonawanda New York 14120. Include Name, and Member number. Indoor Range Access Anyone wishing to use the indoor range must pay a yearly range fee of $20.00 and will need to attend a one time range orientation to become familiar with range equipment, range rules and ammo that can and cannot be used on our range. When completed, our access control will be programmed to allow you access to the Indoor Range. The orientation is routinely offered immediately after the conclusion of our membership meetings, scheduled at 2:00 PM on the second Sunday of each month, and at 7:00 PM on the second Tuesday following the General Meetings. Indoor Range Renewal You may renew your Indoor Range access any time during the year. Your status from any previous year will be considered verification that you have had the required Indoor Range Orientation Briefing. If your Indoor Range access has been turned off it will be restored upon receipt of payment to the Membership Chairman. If you have other questions, please contact Mike at 695-0090

Membership Applications, We accept applications and provide orientation for new applicants at 12:00 PM sharp, on the day of and prior to our General Membership Meeting held on the second Sunday of each month. We also accept  applications and provide orientation at 7 PM sharp on the second Tuesday following our General Membership Meeting. Any exceptions to this schedule will be noted in our monthly calendar. Applicants must obtain a background check from their local Police or Sheriff's department, and must present it at the time of their membership orientation.

PLEASE NOTE: A valid New York State Pistol Permit can and will be accepted as your background check,

And you will also need to bring:

1) An initiation fee of $75.00,

2) Your Prorated Dues, and
3) $5.00 for your Key Card deposit,
