NOTICE TO MEMBERS Recent damage has been done to our target numbers on the Outdoor Pistol Range. As we do recognize that the majority of our members respect our property and the work that members do to improve it, we must advise that any individual (s) being found responsible for causing damage will face immediate termination.

N.C.S.A. Membership Meeting is scheduled for Sunday, June 14th 2009 at 2 PM. A light lunch will be served one hour prior to the meeting. The next Director meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 4th 2009 at 7pm. Meeting dates and much, much more is posted online at www.ncsaonline.org

SECOND NOTICE of proposed change to N.C.S.A. Constitution, Article 3, Line (F) has been amended to read, “The Caretaker is to be an honorary member of the Sportsmen’s Retreat and is to receive all proceeds from the kitchen he operates.” The proposed change will be read at the June 14th Membership Meeting and voted on at the September 13th Membership Meeting. Thank you, the B.O.D.

Work Party started Tuesday April 7th at 6:00 PM, New Members can fulfill their 10 hour obligation of work duty and save $20.00 off Member Dues. If Tuesdays are difficult, call Elmer 731-4535 to make other arrangements.

900 Pistol Match has moved outdoors on Wednesday nights with signup at 6:00 PM and the match at 6:30 PM. There is a $4.00 fee for the Match which includes a weekly cash prize drawing, an all you can eat buffet at season end, plus an optional $1.00 50/50 split drawing. A casual match consisting of: Two slow fire targets, One National Match (Slow, Timed, Rapid) Two timed fire targets and two rapid fire targets, with a caliber of your choice.

N.C.S.A. Annual Family Picnic will be held on Sunday August 2nd from 12:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Fun and games for kids between age 5 and 85. The picnic committee asks that those attending bring a side dish or dessert of their choosing to share. The grilled food and soft drinks will be supplied by the Club. All ranges will be closed for the picnic event. Please contact Elmer at 731-4535 to inform him of the number of people in your group.

Sporter Rifle Shooters Though the League concluded March 5th 2009, John Lotz will continue to call Matches on Thursday evening through the summer. For more info call John at 735-7517

22 Benchrest Match Started Saturday April 18th at 12:00 PM, Elmer Goldpenny will hold a 22 Benchrest Match each month. The match is shot at 200 yards, with any type sight that can put that bullet in the scoring rings. For more information call Elmer at 731-4535

3 Position Rifle Match Carl Stivers will be running the three-position 200-yard rifle match, consisting of prone, sitting and offhand shooting. The match is designed for the Clubs more mature shooters who are not able to keep up the routine of a High Power Rifle Match, and will allow 10 minuets to shoot each position. The use of either iron sites, scope sights or dot sights will be allowed on a bolt action, pump action, lever action or semi-auto loader. The cost for members is $1.00 and The Match will start after the 300 yard Prone Match at approximately 11:00am. For info contact Carl Stivers at 791-4109 Dates are provided below.

300 Yard Prone Match Carl Stivers will be running a 300 yard Prone Rifle Match. Shooters can use any caliber rifle equipped with any type of sight and fired with the use of a sling only. The shooter is allowed 5 minuets for sighters, followed by a string of 20 shots in 20 minuets at the command or the range officer. When shooters have completed their 20 rounds the shooters proceed downrange to score their targets. After scoring and all shooters have returned to the shooting area, on command the shooters return to their shooting positions and fire their second string. The target used for this match is the MR-63 at 300 yards. Fee is $2.00 Dates are provided below.

OFF HAND RIFLE MATCH Don Testa will hold two off-hand (standing) rifle matches. Shooting will be at 100 yards using the ASSRA 200 yd target. The center bull is worth 25 points. Use any rifle, any caliber, or any type of sight. There will be two classifications for this Match: Class 1) pure off-hand, with no artificial support allowed (except slings, hooked butt plates and palm rests are allowed).  Class 2) allows the use of, shooting sticks, tri-pods. Five minutes will be allowed for sighters followed by 10 shots in 20 minutes for each Match. Targets are scored downrange. $1.00 fee lets you shot both matches.  Dates are below, for more info call Don Testa, at 684-0481

Junior Rifle Program N.C.S.A. is in the process of developing the Junior Rifle Program and has intensions of offering it for the 2008/2009 season. The course will educate juniors in firearm safety and improve marksmanship. Niagara County Sportsmen’s Club maintains a number of .22 caliber rifles for ages 12 thru 20 that are supplied for use in the course. In addition all necessary materials for the course may be provided for this Rifle Marksmanship Course. Be sure to watch for future notices about the Junior Program. Or call Elmer at 731-4535

NCSA Shirts and Hats We have Niagara County Sportsmen's shirts and hats with the Club Logo on them and are available for purchase at the Club on both membership and directors meeting dates, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and Sunday mornings. See George Durkin to purchase your shirts and or hats. Polo shirts are priced at $10.00 each, T-Shirts are $7.00 each. For more information contact George at 298-5923  

NRA Membership/Renewal Gerald McLane is our NRA recruiter. He has made available the necessary NRA application to be completed and mailed using the postage paid self addressed envelope available on the bulletin board in the clubhouse, Be sure to mail to the NRA Recruiting Department. N.C.S.A. Membership Renewals. Dues were due June 1st.  For your convenience we had included a self addressed envelope with a renewal form in our April Newsletter mailing to renew your Membership. We again ask that you please return the renewal with proper payment to the address indicated on the form. Or, you can deposit it the collection box next to the sign in sheet (No cash please). A printable member renewal form is available on our website, www.ncsaonline.org, or you can obtain a renewal form left near the collection box at the club. If you are unable to acquire a form, mail your dues (Check or MO) to: Niagara County Sportsmen’s Assoc. P.O. Box 194, North Tonawanda New York 14120. Include Name, and Member number. Indoor Range Access Anyone wishing to use the indoor range must pay a yearly range fee of $20.00 and will need to attend a one time range orientation to become familiar with range equipment, range rules and ammo that can and cannot be used on our range. When completed, our access control will be programmed to allow you access to the Indoor Range. The orientation is routinely offered immediately after the conclusion of our membership meetings, scheduled at 2:00 PM on the second Sunday of each month, and at 7:00 PM on the second Tuesday following the General Meetings. Indoor Range Renewal You may renew your Indoor Range access any time during the year. Your status from any previous year will be considered verification that you have had the required Indoor Range Orientation Briefing. If your Indoor Range access has been turned off it will be restored upon receipt of payment to the Membership Chairman. If you have other questions, please contact Mike at 695-0090

Membership Applications, Steve Urbaniak will be accepting applications and providing orientation for new applicants on the second Sunday of each month at 12 PM sharp, and on the day of and prior to our General Membership Meeting. Also at 7 PM sharp on the second Tuesday following our General Membership Meeting. Any exceptions to this schedule will be noted in our monthly calendar. Applicants must obtain a background check from their local Police or Sheriff's department, and must present it at the time of their membership orientation.
