Rules and Regulations

John Garand Match

The Garand Match is fired at a distance of 200 yards.  Its course of fire is one that even new shooters can successfully complete.  Shooters begin with five sighting or practice shots and then shoot ten shots for record in the prone position in a fifteen-minute time period.  This is followed by a rapid-fire series.  Shooters begin the rapid-fire stage while standing and must drop down into the prone position and fire ten shots, with one reload, within a 70-second time limit. The final ten record shots are fired in the standing position with a ten-minute time limit.

100yd and 200yd Off Hand Rifle Match

The 100yd Off Hand Rifle Match is fired at a distance of 100 yards using the ASSRA 200 yd target.
The 200yd Off Hand Rifle Match is fired at a distance of 200 yards using the ASSRA 200 yd target
It is basically is the old German ring target and is very challenging even at 100yds.  The center bull is 1.5 inches in diameter and is worth 25 points.  The scoring rings are 3/4" apart out to the 15 ring.  Paper size is 18" X 20".  A shot out of the scoring rings, but on the paper, gets a 10. Use either the Red bullseye out to the 18 ring on one side or black on the other, your choice.
You may use any rifle, any caliber and any type of sight. There will be two classifications for this Match: Class 1) strictly off-hand with no artificial support, though slings, hooked butt plates and palm rests may be used.  Class 2) allows the use of shooting sticks or tri-pods. Five minutes will be allowed for sighters followed by 10 shots in 20 minutes for each Match. Targets are scored downrange by the competitors followed by a 10 minute break at which time match two will begin. The $1.00 fee allows participation in both matches.
